Connecting With God | Dive DeeperSample
Week 4 | Thankfulness
Day Four
Spend some time in prayer before you begin.Thank God for this word and ask Him to reveal to you His truth in it.
- Read 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 again but this time try reading it in a different version than you did before, look up the definitions of words you don’t know, summarize what the passage is saying in your own words.
- Do some research, who wrote the book of 1 Thessalonians? When was it written? To whom was it written? What genre of writing is it (Historical narrative, poetry, wisdom literature, law, prophesy, parables, epistles)? Why is all of this important?
- Do you think this passage teaches us about God’s creation, man’s sin, God’s redemption of man, or God’s restoration of man to Himself? It can be more than one. Why is it important to think about this?
- How does knowing God desires you to be thankful change how you view Him? Why do you think He wants us to be thankful?
- When it says rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, do you think that means we can’t feel sad about our circumstances if they are not what we want for ourselves? Why or why not?
- Spend some time in prayer as you close. Rejoice in the Lord, thank Him for your current circumstances, and ask Him to be connected with you in prayer throughout this week.
