Uncommon

DAY 1 OF 40

Un·com·mon

1: not ordinarily encountered: UNUSUAL

2: REMARKABLE, EXCEPTIONAL

“Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 1:13

I continually re-evaluate how I live at the start of the New Year. I'll compile a list of New Year's resolutions in my life, hoping it'll improve it. The list goes on forever: new diets, habits, and gym memberships. I do my best to integrate these daily enhancements in the ultimate pursuit of living life to the "fullest." Then, on January 1st, at 12:01 AM, I forgot the old resolution list and ushered in the new one. But in reality, it's the same old list.

You may be like me and get excited about these changes for better, more fulfilling lives. Lose weight, read more, and stop drinking. Sure, losing weight is an excellent goal to have. Being healthy is essential. Reading more is a great habit to implement. Limiting our alcohol consumption is a very wise practice. Although we may see positive feedback from checking those to-do boxes, no one would consider their lives fulfilled and purposed by those changes.

This devotional is not another resolution list that collects dust on your nightstand. This time spent together is intended to point you to a life truly fulfilled with purpose - which only comes through a relationship with Jesus. This is a counter-cultural and unique solution to use Christ as our guide for living instead of culture. When we get to know Him more, we become well acquainted with abundant life regardless of our resolutions. I'm excited to journey with you into a new life. An uncommon, incredible, and infinitely more than we could hope for kind of life.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

  1. If you could change one thing about your life, what would it be?
  2. How could you partner with the Lord about the "one thing?”
  3. How could you partner with the people in your Uncommon small group about the "one thing?”

Day 2

About this Plan

Uncommon

The purpose of this devotional is to take a deeper look into the "uncommon" living for those of us walking with Jesus. We are declared holy through Christ, so how do we walk in that holiness? How can we be set apart and walk out our holiness?
