Sit, Walk, Stand - a 40 Day Walk Through of Ephesians

DAY 39 OF 40

Eph 6:18

Ephesians 6:18
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

The Christian’s life should be permeated by prayer. Throughout the Bible, repetitions are never coincidental but are used to highlight something. FOUR times Paul uses the word ALL in connection with prayer.

We should pray

  • ALL the time
  • ALL kinds of prayer
  • with ALL perseverance
  • for ALL God’s people

ALL THE TIME

To the Thessalonians Paul wrote:

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

  1. To “pray without ceasing” means to always have one’s mind on God and constantly be for His guidance.
  2. “All kinds of prayer”. Our prayer life ought not to be stifled and on autopilot. It should be dynamic like the interactions between friends.
  3. ‘With all perseverance.’ Whenever Jesus prayed in public, his prayers were short and concise, but in private, he often prayed throughout the night. Prayer can be frustrating, especially when it seems fruitless, but it is a wrestle with God where we are changed in the process and a struggle against the powers of evil. When Daniel received his answer after 21 days, the angel told him he was heard from day one, but it was a fight for the answer to arrive (Dan 10:12). Do not give up.
  4. “For all God’s people”. We pray without discrimination for all people! Let us not just pray for people we agree with or like. Pray for everyone.

About this Plan

Sit, Walk, Stand - a 40 Day Walk Through of Ephesians

Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? The Christian walk can make you feel like striving when really everything has been done for you by Jesus, but there is still so much to be done. This is the tension every Christian walks in. The tension between the NOW & the NOT-YET. We are SEATED with Jesus, now WALK IT OUT, so that you may STAND.
