Made for More: Finding Greater Purpose Through Scripture's Well-Known PersonalitiesSample
Every life is different, and every individual has a path laid out for them by God. Some people are called to a quiet life of consistent faithfulness, where they can see their future far down the road and accept it as it comes to them. This is right and good, and they are made for more.
Then there are the few, like the disciples, who had a life path lined up just like that. Peter, Andrew, James, and John knew what they were going to do: they were going to fish, just like their fathers were fishermen. They were going to head out on the open waters every day, cast their nets, haul in their catch, and make a living doing that and only that.
And then along comes Jesus.
He looks at that fisherman’s existence and says, “This is great for most people, but you four? I’ve made you for more. Come with me.”
And then they’re faced with a choice. Will they take what they have in front of them, the quiet life of meaningful work? Or will they drop it all and follow this extravagantly grace-filled teacher?
They took the latter choice, and their lives were never the same.
Is there anything in your life Jesus is calling you to drop for Him? Anything He wants to trade out for a deep, relational discipleship? Anything less than He wants to replace with His more?
Give it to Him. You won’t be disappointed.
Because you were made for more.
Amen.
