Faith for Fertility: A Prayer Devotional

DAY 3 OF 11

Children are a Blessing from the Lord

Devotional

Family is God’s idea. It’s one of the small ways we can glimpse God’s love for us and Himself in the Trinity. He has promised that the ones who walk in His ways will be blessed with a true blessing: the love of a family. It is a blessing from the Lord to have children around the table to provide for, nurture, and teach. Be encouraged that this is God’s idea and desire!

Prayer

Father, we lift up the desire in our hearts for a child. We believe You have commissioned us to bear children, as You commanded in Genesis 9:7: “As for you, be fruitful and increase in number; multiply on the earth and increase upon it.” Lord, You have said in Your Word: “Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord; the fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one's youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; they shall not be ashamed, But shall speak with their enemies in the gate.” We pray for Your compassion to be poured into our lives so that we would have children as a heritage from You, Lord. We believe that Christ is our righteousness, and You call us righteous. As Your righteous ones, we remind You of Your promises to us. You promised that as a wife, I [or wife’s name] would be like a fruitful vine in the very heart of the house, that our children like olive plants all around our table. Your Word says, ‘Behold, thus shall the man be blessed Who fears the Lord.’ Thank You for Your promises. Amen.

About this Plan

Faith for Fertility: A Prayer Devotional

If you’re waiting for a child, be it through adoption, natural pregnancy, or fertility treatment, this devotional is for you. The reflections on the scriptures are short and the prayers will take one to three minutes to pray. Be encouraged to allow God to fill your heart with hope, patience, and faith as you fix your eyes on Him. I strongly encourage you to complete this devotional with your spouse.
