Prayer for the unborn child

As with Hannah’s dedication of Samuel before he was born, note here the Lord’s consecration of Jeremiah before he was conceived. Do you believe that God has a special plan for the child who will join your family? He’s also chosen very specific parents to steward him or her – you! You can now choose to acknowledge God’s ultimate sovereignty over his or her life before he or she joins your family.

Prayer

Lord God, we believe that our child will be Your child, and we will be merely stewards. As You told Jeremiah, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you; Before you were born, I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” We commit to raising children in Your righteousness. You have a purpose for this child, with promises, sanctification, and specific ordination for his or her place in this world. So we will raise this child with Your guidance. Your Word says, ‘The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice, and he who begets a wise child will delight in him. Let your father and your mother be glad, and let her who bore you rejoice.’ So we will rejoice as our children grow up to be a blessing to Your Kingdom. Amen.
