Peace in an Anxious World

DAY 2 OF 3

Day 2

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. - 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18.

It is scientifically proven that when we give thanks, chemicals are released in our brain that combat anxiety, depression, and worry. Could it be that God and the Bible always knew this when we considered our verse for the day? Absolutely!

I always love saying there is a connection between God’s grace and being grateful. They even sound alike! Being thankful sets us up to receive more of God’s grace and positions our mind to be positive and optimistic.

I have found that our minds naturally gravitate towards the negative. It is almost as if we are wired for it, and is definitely a part of living in this fallen world and having flesh and bones! But this can be changed by practicing gratitude, renewing our minds in God’s word and praying to the Father.

Is it not true that it is hard to be worried and thankful for God's blessings at the same time? I challenge you to think of three things you are grateful for the next time you feel anxious.

Meditating on God’s goodness and the areas where you are blessed will release His grace and hopefulness over your life. It is a secret the devil does not want us to know!

Remember, we do not have to be thankful for a situation, but we can be thankful through a situation! This will alter our mood and perspective, and greatly change the state of our mind. The outcome of any given circumstance is up to our resting on God, our obedience toward Him, and His sovereignty. Let’s be grateful today for who He is and all He has done! Let’s declare with our mouths that our future is blessed, and He has given us the victory in all things.
