Persecution and Faith

DAY 3 OF 5

Persecution and the Presence of God

Peace/Salam/Shalom, my friend. I am glad you are joining us in this study on the presence of God. Jesus is the Word of God. No matter where we are Jesus the Messiah is with us. Whether alone or with family, at school or work, the Messiah is always with us. Today, we study God’s power in changing lives in the middle of persecution. As you read today's passage consider the following questions:

How would you feel after being beaten and scourged?

Why were Paul and Silas praying in prison?

How were they able to sing songs after being beaten?

How did the behavior of Paul and Silas impact other believers?

How did their behavior impact nonbelievers?

How was God glorified in this situation?

Feelings are a result of situations. Sadness and frustrations are expected when we are in times of pressure and persecution. Jesus is with us always despite all situations and He will change things. Our faith in God’s power and faithfulness gives us the assurance that He will protect us and use the situation we are in for his glory. God is in control of all things; nothing happens without His permission. We can pray and sing like Paul, for we are sure God will use the situation for the spread of his gospel.
