What If...

DAY 8 OF 28

Reading the Bible can feel intimidating sometimes. But, as we saw before, one simple way of studying Scripture is called S.O.A.P. It stands for "Scripture," "Observation," "Application," and "Prayer." Study Revelations 21:3-6 using the S.O.A.P. method. We'll show you how—it's easy!

S: Scripture

If you haven't already, read today's passage of Scripture. Then summarize it in your own words.

O: Observation

Read Revelation 21:3–6 again.

  • How is God described in this passage?
  • What promises are made in it?
  • What do these promises teach us about rest?

A: Application

  • Ultimately, God is responsible for making all things right. We're invited to play a part, but the results don't rely on us. How does this truth impact your ability to find rest in God?
  • What does this passage invite us to do differently or view in a new way?
  • What would change in your life if you invited God to be your source of rest?

P: Prayer

Spend some time in prayer about something you currently find tiring or stressful. Ask God to be a source of rest and to provide you with the comfort you need. Then, say thank you for all the ways God provides for your needs and is there with you in times of pain.

About this Plan

What If...

Curiosity inspires artists to look at what is in front of them and imagine something entirely different. God asks us to do something similar—to wonder what it might look like for things to be different. In this 4-week devotional series from Grow Curriculum, we'll chase our curiosity and discover what it can look like to care for the people around us.
