From Grief to Glory: Mary's Journey With the Risen SaviourSample

On the day of the Resurrection, Jesus first appears to Mary Magdalene. In fact, we see no account that Mary (the Mother of Jesus) saw Jesus after his resurrection. However, the Gospels only lists a few instances of the Risen Jesus and does not necessarily mean that she did not see her son. Many believe that Mary was not mentioned within the group of women that visited the tomb because Jesus had visited her first, however, this is only speculative and will never know until we ask Mary in heaven! Overall in the Gospels, we hear very little about Mary, despite how significant her role was in the upbringing of Jesus.

If she did see her son, I wonder how she would’ve felt? What was her first reaction or feeling? We may have to use some creative license, but just for a moment, imagine yourself, once again, in Mary's sandals, grappling with the emotions that journeyed through her heart at the sight of the empty tomb.

Close your eyes and envision the stone rolled away, the morning light spilling into the darkness of the burial chamber. Picture Mary's face, a mix of bewilderment, fear, and perhaps a glimmer of anticipation.

What thoughts raced through Mary's mind as she discovered the absence of Jesus' body? Did a spark of hope ignite, or was she consumed by a new wave of grief? Consider the confusion that may have clouded her thoughts and the questions that undoubtedly swirled in her heart.
