Continuous Revelation Flows at the Heart of God

DAY 5 OF 6

Does revelation always come through sight? Is it only something we can see or can revelation come to us in other ways? Our spiritual eyes are a way through which God can give revelation, but He can use your feeling, hearing or knowing just as well. You could say that you can receive revelation through every sense, depending on how God gives it and how you hear Him. The Bible also speaks about gifts of revelation, these are gifts from the Holy Spirit to you to show God to other people. The longer you walk with Him in this and if you’re also actually practicing these gifts, you’ll discover how you especially hear from God. You can smell a word of God, see it or just know it. The Bible is very clear about this: God gives these gifts to whoever He wants to and to the benefit of another. A gift is not a trophy for a believer, but a means to make God’s heart known. God can give revelation through His Word, through creation, through other people, through music, art, dance, you name it. God can even show something of Himself through someone who doesn’t believe yet. So, the gifts of the Spirit and your senses are a means to an end: revelation.

Revelation reveals things that are and aren’t from God. That requires action from us. When God reveals something about us or the enemy, we don’t have to harden or be afraid. Go to God with it, He reveals it for a reason. It’s an invitation to meet Him. God can give you a revelation about His will, but it requires obedience and trust of you to do what He says. You could recognize something of God in someone else, when God gives you revelation about them. Say it to that person. It’s called encouragement, prophesying or just honoring when you do that. Just try it, you’ll see that God will confirm you.

Alright, time for some questions: do you know how you primarily hear God? Did you receive gifts of revelation from the Holy Spirit? If not, did you ask Him about it once? If so, do you use these gifts to show something of God to others?
