Comfort in AnxietySample
Unwavering Faith
“I am with you, and no one will attack you to harm you.” (Acts 18:10)
As long as the Lord had work for Paul to accomplish in Corinth, the rage of the mob was held in check. Despite the opposition and blasphemy from the Jews, they couldn't halt the preaching of the gospel or the conversion of listeners. God wields authority over even the most tumultuous minds. He can turn the wrath of humanity to glorify Him when it erupts, yet He demonstrates His goodness even more profoundly when He restrains it; and indeed, He is capable of restraint. "Because of the greatness of your arm, they are still as a stone, till your people, O Lord, pass by."
Therefore, do not harbor any fear of people when you're fulfilling your duties. Proceed with determination, just as Jesus would, and those who oppose you will prove as feeble as a bruised reed or a smoldering wick. Often, people have feared because they were themselves afraid, but an unwavering faith in God dispels fear like a giant brushing aside cobwebs in their path. No one can harm us unless the Lord permits it. The same power that causes even the devil to flee at a mere word can certainly control his agents. Perhaps they are already more fearful of you than you are of them. Therefore, advance confidently, and where you expected adversaries, you will discover allies.
