Overcoming Fear

DAY 2 OF 5

The Spirit of Fear

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7

God has given us the spirit of power, and we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.

When the Bible speaks of the spirit of fear, it is not referring to the feeling of fear, but to an evil spirit that can bind us with chains.

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I have come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
John 10:10

The devil wants to prevent us from living out God's plans by putting fear in our hearts. This spirit of fear wants to imprison us in a place where we are paralyzed and unable to move forward.

When we understand that God's power is greater than any chain of fear that seeks to bind us, we can appropriate the spirit of power that enables us to overcome all fear.

We need to discern the difference between natural fear (instinct) and spiritual fear (bondage).

Christ called us to live in freedom, and anything that takes away from this freedom that we have gained through Christ, does not come from God.

Through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross, we are already free from every spirit of fear that seeks to imprison us.
