God's Redemption Story (1 Kings - Ezra)Sample
Josiah - 1/5
Josiah became king when he was only eight years old, and he died in battle before he turned 40. But the Bible doesn’t consider either to be the most important facts about Josiah. Second Kings and 2 Chronicles each focus two chapters on how Josiah loved and served the one true God, and we read 2 Chronicles 34:3 (ESV),“For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet a boy, he began to seek the God of David his father.”
How often do we try to be good people, only to fail miserably? We put our minds to being kind or making good choices or resisting temptation, but we come up short over and over again. We will never be able to develop good character on our own. If we’re tired of our own sinful nature, the only way to overcome it is by following Josiah’s example—we must intentionally seek God.
