Discovery Pathway Classes - Baptism and Spirit-Filled Living

DAY 22 OF 30

Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.

Psalm 119:105

Imagine this scenario: you jump in your car for a quick trip to the store. It is dark out, and as you pull onto the road, you realize your headlights are not working properly. Would you drive to the store anyway? Most of us would not drive even a short distance at night without the headlights functioning on our car. That would be crazy! The same is true about moving forward as a disciple of Jesus without giving His Word, the Bible, a chance to light the road before us.

The Bible provides the headlights for the road of life. It is an instruction manual written by the very author of life! As you read the Bible, you get to know God personally. In some ways, it is like reading letters or text messages from a friend. With each letter or text, you are brought deeper into their story.

The Bible is the divinely inspired Word of God. This means that God is the very source of the Bible. He is the author who has inspired the grand story of the Bible. Although there were over 40 human authors of the Bible, there is one source. God inspired each person to write, and all the authors together have brought us his message. The unity and consistency of the Bible exist because it is given to us by God.

The Bible is God’s primary way of speaking to you. He wants to use his Word to develop a relationship with you and give guidance for your life. That is why diving into his Word each day is critical. Making his Word the top priority of your life will help you grow spiritually, be more honest with yourself, equip you for good works, renew your mind, be successful in life, give you truth at your fingertips, protect you from attacks, and help you lead others towards Jesus.

As you read the passage from Psalm today, try to see the “movie in your mind.” Imagine the things described by the author. What are some things mentioned in the Psalm or in the list above that you would like God’s Word to do in your life? Accompany your readings today with time in prayer using the ACTION prayer method.

About this Plan

Discovery Pathway Classes - Baptism and Spirit-Filled Living

Spiritual growth does not happen by accident! Jesus made it clear that the pathway to spiritual growth comes through abiding with him. This study will help you abide with Jesus each day and grow as his disciple in four aspects of the faith: Understanding the significance of baptism. Learning to live a Holy Spirit-directed life. Experiencing the power of prayer. Hearing God's voice through his Word.
