Immanuel, God With Us

DAY 4 OF 5

On Christmas morning, the luckiest boys and girls in the world run to the tree, hoping to see presents with their name on them. Someone has remembered them. Even as adults, we receive with joy those details that make us feel loved, appreciated, thought of by others. Feeling relevant to someone is one of our greatest needs.

Imagine the most influential person today for a moment, the one you consider a star, someone who has everything we wish to achieve, and imagine that person asking to be our guest, wanting to sit at our table, our humble table. Can you believe it? It's hard for me, to tell you the truth. Someone who apparently has everything, needs nothing from me, nothing from you. What can ordinary people offer him that he can't get from others who are much more relevant, richer, more cultured?

Now think of Jesus. What can He lack that you and I can offer Him? What is the best you have? He has formed every star, He has named them. He has given you the personality you have, the talents and even the tone of your voice.

There is nothing you can impress him with, much less to attract him. Yet he wants to meet you. Eat with you, chat with you. It doesn't make any sense, according to human logic. But thank heaven His logic is divine, and it has to do with love. With HIS love, with who He is.

We couldn't approach Him, He had to be the one to approach us. And since He doesn't need anything from you or me, He did it of His own free will. He wanted to do it. He wanted to draw near. So, if at any time you thought you were unloved, unwanted, or unthought of, remember this: Immanuel, God with us, He did it.

About this Plan

Immanuel, God With Us

In the beginning, God dwelt with human beings. The relationship was close, direct, without intermediaries, and without impediments. Everything went wrong because of sin, we went astray, we moved away from home, but then He came. Jesus came to bring light into our lives, He brought us closer to the Father again. And now God is with us, He is Immanuel.
