Never Alone

The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise Him. PSALM 28:7 NIV

It's not often that we pick up a shield these days. Most of us rarely arm ourselves for battle or consider what weapons we might need for the day. Sometimes we skip over these contextual, cultural references in Scripture. But imagine going to battle with men who are attacking with swords and arrows. Now imagine going without a shield. It seems impossible to escape the battle unscathed. The Lord is your shield of protection against the arrows and swords that life throws at you every day. You will inevitably encounter difficulty, pain, and disappointments, but you will not encounter these trials alone. God goes before you as a shield and source of strength. When you realize the many ways that God provides cover and safety for you, it really should cause you to sing and leap for joy! You don’t need to believe the lie that you are alone and exposed for all to see. There is One who goes before you.

Oh, Lord, I am so undeserving of Your protection. You give to me so sacrificially that it causes me to shout for joy. Thank You for Your protection and presence. You go with me, and I am never alone. Today, help me go forth in confidence because I know I have You at my side. Help me to be bold in the way I live and speak. Give me great joy, great love, great peace. God, I praise You today! Amen.
