Many of us are familiar with the Golden Rule. It's a rule we try to live by and to teach to those whom we love. It's a rule Jesus shares when describing what it means to love our neighbors. Jesus modeled a life in which he did good works for others -- and led his followers to do good works for others -- regardless of what they could do for them. We don't just treat well people who can return the favor to us. Instead, we do what Jesus did; we love people who can never return that love to us.

Jesus, would you give me a 'regardless' spirit? Would I love people regardless of what they can do for me?
