DAY 2 - SECOND CHANCES

Our God is a God of second chances.

The concept of new mercies every morning is rather hard to accept. No other relationship we experience on earth is this way. We can cause hurt or we can hurt others in such a way that tarnishes a relationship forever.However, when it comes to God, His steadfast love for us never ceases. Despite the ways we continually fall short, the Lord continually expresses His unending love towards us all throughout scripture. Why then do we often feel that something we’ve done or something that’s been done to us could disqualify us from the love of God?

Even when our mistakes seem unforgivable, all of our sin (past, present and future) was wiped away by Jesus’ loving sacrifice at Calvary. More times than I’m proud to admit in my life, I’ve fallen short of who God has called me to be.And in certain instances, I even started to believe the lies of the enemy that told me I was unworthy to ever be loved by God.However, when I ran back to God’s written word in those instances, I would quickly be reminded of the forgiveness and lovingkindness of our Savior. Even with our scars and our blemishes earned from walking our own way, God is so ready to pour out His love on us and welcome us in to communion with Him. And it’s God’s kindness that leads us to repentance. Today, know that God loves you, and He’s made you worthy of His love.

Father, I thank you for your steadfast love. You had every reason to leave me in my sin and shame, but you chose to send your Son and make a way for us to have relationship together. Thank you for choosing to love me and pour your grace out on me.
