DEALING WITH DOUBTS

“If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.” -- Romans 10:9-10 NLT

You may start to encounter some doubts about God and maybe even your salvation. Don’t be too surprised. This happens to all of us. Part of it is just our human nature, but there’s also more to it. There is an evil power out there, Satan, and he will likely try to get you back to your old life and way of thinking. Satan, he’s known as the father of lies, isn’t too excited about you following Jesus. He may try every trick and lie he has to get you to turn away from God, but ultimately he has no power over you! 

We have to know who God says He is and who God says we are. That way when the enemy sends lies and doubts your way, you’ll be able to know what’s true and what’s not. So how do we know who God is and who we are? It’s all in the Bible, God’s words written to us! It’s so important that we read the bible, and we’ll talk more about how to do that on another day.

Going back to doubts, don’t think God can’t handle that. Sometimes having doubts and questions can actually be a good thing. It forces us to find the answers to those questions, and in the process, we learn more about and get closer with God. He’s a big God, he created the whole universe, so He can handle our questions! 

Action Step: 
If you’re having any doubts about God or your salvation, tell Him right now and ask Him to help you with those doubts. Compare the doubts you have with what the Bible has to say. Also, you can talk to a leader at the church you go to and go over those doubts and questions.

My Prayer:
Jesus, thank You that Satan has no power over me. Thank You that even if I do encounter doubts and fears, I know You can handle it and won’t think less of me for coming to You with questions. Help me to know You and know who You say I am and never listen to the lies of Satan. Amen.
