Jesus With Us: Live Like Jesus, Love Like JesusSample
Turning in a New Direction
It is Jesus’s Nature to bring His Light to where it is dark, to visit places where He has Work to do. He wants each of us to not feel alone, not waste our lives in addiction or jealousy, and not feel stuck in destructive ways that only hurt us and our relationships with the people close to us. Jesus’s Presence brings hope, the ability to climb out of the holes we find ourselves in, a strengthening of community, and so many other things. But transformation doesn’t come out of nowhere.
Repentance means more than turning from something to someone. It is a recalibration of our lives and our priorities. It requires turning from our own self-interests. Repentance is essential because it “resets” our relationship with God. This is not a verbal reset. It means actively committing to change, actively turning to Jesus, and committing to following Him and what He says.
Perhaps you’re feeling like you’ve wandered too far. Don’t worry. Jesus can find you in the dark.
Why does the Bible often refer to Jesus as “the Light”?
When have you noticed your own life drifting away from God?
Jesus, thank You for always meeting me where I am. Help me to be quick to turn from my own selfish interests and back to You. Prepare me daily for life with You, now and forever. In Your Name, Amen.
