Purify Your Mind Series (Part 2) by Joe KirbySample
Every Day Is a New Page
When I first got saved, I remember approaching the former pastor of my church and saying, “Pastor David, I’m really struggling with lust. I keep going back to the same sin and just when I think I’ve beaten it, I fall again.”
He looked at me with kind eyes and said, “Joe, did you read the Ladybird books when you were a child? You know, the books with a little red ladybird on the spine?”
“Yes, I did, Pastor,” I replied.
“Well, those books had a very special motto, and it went like this: ‘Every day is a new page.’ Joe, that’s how the Christian should live his life. ‘Yesterday, Lord, I failed You. But today is a new page.’”
You know, I can’t put it better than my old pastor friend. Every day is a new page, regardless of what you did yesterday because God’s mercy is bigger. No one’s sin has ever made God unfaithful. Great is His faithfulness! The prophet Jeremiah encourages us that the Lord’s mercies are new every morning. So today you have a fresh chance to be renewed, a fresh chance to repent, a fresh chance to serve God. We must never forget that we don’t have the right to another hour. If only we knew the value of every single day, like someone with terminal cancer, we would live differently, we would pray differently, we would be grateful that today we are part of the land of the living and today we can rejoice in the abundant mercy of God.
