Prospering in Suffering: Lessons From Joseph's LifeSample
The Ultimate Depiction of Prospering While Suffering
The story of Jesus' suffering on the cross is the ultimate example of prospering in suffering. Each lash and whip He endured brought forgiveness for our sins. Each thorn that pierced His scalp meant our reconciliation with God. Each nail that pierced His hands and feet represented Satan's defeat. Jesus' physical and emotional pain on the cross brought glory to God and benefitted us.
Believers in Jesus Christ share in His life of victory, prosperity, and resurrection. This life is not defined by material wealth or a lack of challenges. We know that suffering is inevitable, but it will not overcome us. Even in our struggles, we can accomplish great things for God. When we choose to be courageous, joyful, and our best selves, we become victorious over the Devil. We frustrate his plans and intentions, just as Jesus did when He rose from the dead and ascended to heaven.
If you have not yet accepted Jesus as your Savior, now is the time. Pray this simple prayer (or use your own words), and He will come into your life and help you overcome any suffering you are going through: "Father God, I confess that I am a sinner in need of a Savior. I know that following my own path leads to darkness and eternal suffering, but I choose to follow Jesus. I believe He died on the cross for my sins, rose from the dead, and reigns with You in heaven. I believe that by following Jesus, I will find eternal life with You in heaven. Jesus, come into my life and be my Lord and Savior. Amen."
