Children of the Bible

DAY 9 OF 15

The phrase ‘half-hearted’ means that you’re not really excited about something and not putting your whole effort into it. You can’t do much with only half a heart. A half-hearted sporting team isn’t going to win many games, a half-hearted worker isn’t going to do a very good job and a half-hearted chef might not make a very good meal.

Samuel in the Bible, grew up to be a prophet that led God’s people. After some time, when Samuel was very old, the Israelites asked for a king to be their leader. Right before Saul became king, Samuel gave God’s people some wise advice.

Samuel encouraged God’s people to serve Him with their whole heart. The same is true for us. We don’t want to serve God half-heartedly, we should serve God with our whole heart, do our very best and give God our all.

We can have big dreams to serve God with our lives, but thinking about how small we are compared to these dreams might leave us feeling like they may never become a reality. The good news is, we serve a BIG GOD. When you serve God with all your heart He can do great things through you.

You’re never too young to serve God and serve Him with your whole heart.
