You Were Made to Flourish

DAY 2 OF 10

Day 2: Get Vision:

Welcome to day 2! Today, we’re talking about the need for us to get vision!

You might think, Having a vision sounds great, but where do I get it from? And how do I know if it’s God’s vision for me, too? James 1:5 (NKJV) says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”

We gain vision by praying to God, sitting quietly with Him, and listening for the thoughts and ideas He brings to our hearts.

When praying for vision, we should seek it in every area of our lives. God created us as three-part beings. We have a soul (our mind, will, and emotions), a spirit, and a physical body. 3 John 1:2 (NKJV) confirms this when it says, “ . . . I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” Every part of our lives matters to God. So, we can confidently ask Him, “How do you want me to prosper in my family life? In my career? In my finances? In my health?”

Just like God wants us to flourish in every area of our lives, He wants us to flourish in every season of our lives, too. Flourishing looks different for each person and in each season. Flourishing in your twenties will look different than flourishing in your forties. Flourishing as a single woman will differ from flourishing as a mother or a grandmother. When we pray for and receive renewed vision for each of life’s seasons, we can take action to ensure we reap an abundant harvest in each one.

After we gain vision from God and make that vision plain and present, our next steps will become clear. Thoughts, attitudes, and habits contrary to our vision will become obvious, and we’ll have to prepare the ground of our hearts to become good soil for the seeds we will plant. We might discover we must do away with clutter, distractions, and hindrances. We might find we must deal with fear, complacency, or past disappointments. Whatever it is, we must clear the ground and prepare the soil for the seed to grow to its full potential.

What would it look like for you to flourish in your life? What would it look like to flourish in your relationships and your career? In your health and your finances?
