What Is Your Perspective?
The start of the Fantasy Football season always brings lots of hope and excitement. Although we don’t know what’s going to happen, we do our best to anticipate which players we think will produce.
Part of what makes Fantasy Football fun is how managers within a league can think so differently about strategies. We all see the upcoming season through a unique lens and it turns out a certain way as a result of our individualized mindset.
What about the lens we use to view things in “real life”? How do we decide what we should value? What do we believe during difficult situations?
Ultimately, it comes down to whether the lens we filter things through is the Bible.
It’s challenging to consider the reality of our daily mindset, and if the Bible helps give us an eternal perspective. Is our fulfillment found in Jesus when we view our day-to-day life? Or do we focus on temporary things that bring us down?
Colossians 3:1-2 says, “If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.”
The perspective we choose determines what our mind is focused on. If it’s based on the world’s point of view, our main focus will be making money and selfishly doing what we want to do.
Alternatively, if our perspective lies in obeying God, we set our minds on things above so our day is filled with compassion, patience, forgiveness, and love.
Philippians 4:8 tells us, “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”
Our perspective on Fantasy Football affects our season, but the perspective we choose each day affects our eternal lives. We must decide if we want to think and live for the now…or in view of an immeasurable hope that is only found in Jesus.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, help me realize that fulfillment is found in Jesus and not in the things of this world. Teach me to view my current challenges in light of eternity, and remain filled with peace and hope. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
