Are you looking for real healing power?

This is Vince Miller.

Our text today is from James 5:16. It reads:

Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. — James 5:16

So who doesn't want healing? We all want it at some point.

But the healing this verse is talking about is not merely physical. It's spiritual healing. And this is the only real healing. Mainly because our world is ridden with a disease that affects all mankind. It's called sin. And this disease reveals itself through physical symptoms. Symptoms we see and experience. But it's futile to address these symptomatic problems with physical solutions. What we need is a spiritual solution. One that gets to the core of the issue. And that issue is our sin.

What the author tells us to do to deal with this issue is twofold. First, confess. Second, pray. When combined, these two spiritual actions are powerful. They instruct us to tell God what God already knows, but he wants us to say it to him to ensure that we know the problem is spiritual within us and not external to us.

But notice the context of these twofold actions. It's happening in a relationship with another man. But not any man. A righteous man. This means we are aware of the real problem combined with confession and prayer in a mutually beneficial spiritual relationship that results in great power. And it's here men are healed.

So what are you waiting for? If you need spiritual healing, identify your sin issue. Then confess it and pray about it with another brother. I promise it will be freeing if you haven't done it before. And get ready to experience the healing power of the Almighty God.
