SUICIDE

DAY 2 OF 3

IT IS THE MIND THAT DICTATES TO OUR HEARTS

Please know that you are not alone, even though your mind tells you that you are. There is utter darkness in a tunnel, but as you advance forward you will begin to see light!

Our minds are very powerful. Our brain is the computer that feeds our heart (our soul) and what we allow to be processed, is retained.

“More than anything you guard, protect your mind, for life flows from it.” Proverbs 4:23

There are several types of depression. Not all dark feelings come from being a victim, addictions, relational, or financial. Sometimes people have chemical imbalances. Please know that being in this dark place is nothing to be ashamed of as I so mistakenly was. I have since learned it is okay to reach out for help. Luke in the Bible was a physician. He was not one of the 12 Disciples but was most likely one of the 70 called by Jesus. (Luke 10) The point is, this physician was needed for many reasons. Just as we have our dark times today, people all through history faced their pits in life.

At the first sign of dark times, don’t dwell in it, but surround yourself with believers and those who will keep you in prayer. Reach out to God and seek professional help. Don’t allow the enemy to gain ground.

On that fateful night, I made sure the kids were in bed asleep. I took a bottle of pills from the bathroom. As I walked through the bedroom door, it was as if a strong hand became a weight on the nape of my neck and pushed me to my knees. I remember grabbing the door frame as I went down and when my knees hit the floor, I broke and began to weep uncontrollably, calling out to God, “I can’t do this anymore!”

I heard a voice that simply said, “Norma, you left me, I have been here all the time!”

PRAYER: Father, I am forever thankful that You saved me spiritually and physically. Father, forgive me for being so deep into the problem that I forgot, that You, who are all powerful are always with me. Help us to call out to You. Help us to call out for help. There is no shame in ever reaching out to save life! In Jesus’ Name. Amen

About this Plan

SUICIDE

May the true testimony of how God spared me from taking my life be a source of hope and encouragement. Here I am, decades later, hoping to be a light for Jesus in the darkness of someone’s world. According to Global Suicide Stats, an estimated 703,000 people die by suicide worldwide annually. Never do something permanent over a temporary situation. This is the first in a series.
