DAY 3 OF 5

All I Need to Know

My Pastor recently shared a precious story about when his little boy struggled with a terrible fear of the dark. His “little boy” is now a grown man, who stands 6 feet 6 inches tall and fears nothing, but when he was a toddler, he wasn’t so confident.

One night at bedtime, shortly after they completed their bedtime routine, the father sat in the family room, and he heard his little boy call out, pleading for his father to come sit with him because he was afraid of the dark. The loving father and pastor came to him and said, “Son, I will put your night light on so you can see that there is nothing to be afraid of, and I will be just around the corner in the other room!” After a few moments of silence, the little boy replied softly, “Dad, I would rather be in the dark, but know that you’re here in the room with me, than be in the light, all by myself.”

There is so much power in knowing we are not alone. You are not alone. Let that wash over you. You are not alone. In brightest day or darkest night, the Lord is with you and nothing can shake you. You can be completely secure because He is standing guard over you, He is fighting for you, even when you cannot see Him.

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. (Psalm 23:1-4)

If you are feeling scared today, remember, your Father is sitting with you and He never leaves. He is standing watch, all through the night. You can sleep well and rest, always assured that you are never alone.

About this Plan

Greg Sykes - Reverse

Life can be so hard.  Our fears, failures and insecurities--if not properly put in their place --can be crippling. But thank God we don't need to live based on how we feel. The truth that supercedes our emotions, is that we have a God who is working in and through our weakness and failures and is writing a story that is filled with redemption, hope and death defeating love! For the next five days we're going to focus in on the upside down Kingdom of God who consistently does the impossible and the astonishing way He tends to use the most unlikely situations and people to accomplish great things!
