The Body Revelation 7-Day JourneySample
Stage 5: Staying the Course
Like the Prodigal Son, we may think the things of this world—such as food—can fulfill our hearts and quench our need for love, belonging, safety, and control. An orphan spirit may have taken root, leading to a lack of trust in God and difficulty loving ourselves and other people. Fear is the primary source of energy that fuels an orphan spirit, and only the Father’s love can chase out all fear.
We don’t just receive a new identity as children of God. We also inherit all the resources, rights, and privileges of being royal children of the Father. Since we are coheirs with Christ, we can access the power of the Kingdom of God as we think, feel, and choose in our bodies. This is the same power that Christ had when He was on earth.
If we are going to transform our aches and pains into purposes that give God glory and bring us joy, we must never forget who we are and what we have. We are God’s chosen children with access to His eternal Kingdom where no problems, only endless possibilities, exist. Our pain can be transformed into purpose as long as we walk by faith and not by sight.
We live in a world that’s fractured due to sin, which means things won’t always go the way we know they should. And when things don’t go the way we expect, we feel loss — namely a loss of control over our lives. When we feel as if we have lost control, we are likely to retreat into safety and survival mode.
If you really want your body and soul to be well, accessing the power for healing and transforming pain is contingent upon your ability to forgive. When you stop to think about it, releasing someone who has wronged you by forgiving them is so radical. Love and forgiveness have the power to rewrite your story of pain. Don’t wait another day for your better story. Forgive.
Satan has been disarmed because of what Jesus did at the Cross; he’s lost his ability to keep people away from the love of God. This defeat has made our enemy mouthier. Of course, Satan seeks to discourage us, tear us down, and feed us lies. It’s the only tactic he has left.
All our busyness keeps us from the business of tending to the condition of our souls. When we take captive every thought the devil tries to plant in us, we kick him back to his rightful place, powerless in God’s Kingdom.
