The Role of the FatherSample

The Role of the Father

DAY 3 OF 3

THE ROLE OF THE FATHER.

As a child grows into a teen and then into adulthood, what is taught to them today will have an impact on their tomorrow.

We all know the joy a child brings, for they are gifts of God. From their first step to their first day of kindergarten to marriage, every accomplishment gives us joy!

However, along the way, a child is likely to cause some pain. When that happens, dads should not cave, but rather continue to be the godly example before them.

Make sure if what they are choosing to do is against God’s precepts, that it is made known to them. Without anger, let them know of your disappointment while reinforcing your love for them. Don’t just tell them they are wrong, but show them how their choice goes contrary to God’s word.

“It is the greatest joy of my life to hear that my children are consistently living their lives in the ways of truth!” 3 John 1:4

In Mark 14:36, Jesus refers to God as Abba Father and willingly submits His will over to His Father's will. In Romans 8:15, we learn that we are adopted in as heirs of God and we too can call Him Abba Father!

Being a dad is more than being a sperm donor. It is one of the most honorable titles you can have in life that comes with a big responsibility.

Yes, we clothe, feed, house, and care for their physical needs, but as head of the home, the dad is to be the example of Christ to his child with the backing of his wife.

I have only referenced a few of many great scriptures that help dads build that relationship with their children.

CAN YOU RELATE?

Training a child is a full-time job and in many cases, the dad is absent and the position becomes the full responsibility of the mother. However, the lesson remains the same. The way a child is raised is generally the path the child will go. I know there are always exceptions, however, when we live by God’s word we have built the best foundation possible for our children.

Day 2

About this Plan

The Role of the Father

Earthly fathers are to be examples before their children of the Heavenly Father. The role of the father helps shape generations to come! When Jesus was on the cross, He cried out Abba Father, which indicates a close intimacy with God, meaning, Father, I will obey You! Every day is Father’s Day! Let us learn to have that closeness with both our earthly and Heavenly Father!
