Anything Is Possible: How Nine Miracles of Jesus Reveal God's Love for YouSample
Day 1: Water into Wine
Have you ever wondered why Jesus’s first miracle that He performed on earth was turning water into wine at a wedding? This event was not about avoiding party fouls or getting into a debate about drinking alcohol. Jesus had a much bigger purpose...a redemptive purpose.
If Jesus is really who He says He is, then He is not in the business of making things better but making things new.
The water in the jars is a picture of you and me. Jesus did not tell the servants to wipe off the dirt from the outside of the jars or to add some flavoring to the water. He transformed the water into something else. He made the water into a new creation, and He does that with us when we surrender to Him as Lord.
What if in this account Jesus is pointing us to the future wedding feast where He as the Bridegroom and His church as the bride, celebrate for all of eternity together? Where you don’t get into the party based on your outfit or popularity, you get in with the ticket purchased by Jesus Himself. Purchased by His blood on the cross and stamped into all of eternity by the resurrection.
He invites you, today, to RSVP to the greatest wedding party ever. He invites you to be made into a new creation. How do you do this? It is simple, you believe. You admit you need a Savior, and that Savior is Jesus. You believe that when Jesus died on the cross that counted for you, and you confess that He is your Lord. The Bible says that when you do this, you are made new, and your RSVP is a yes, I will be there!
If you already know Jesus as your Lord, spend time thanking Him for making you into a new creation and set your mind on eternity with Him.
