Tim Keller on Money, Wealth, & GenerositySample
"The more money you have the less you believe you have– which makes you less generous to the world”
-Tim Keller
Like anyone else who has had some ups and downs in their career, I have found Tim's statement to be true.
This is why many studies have shown that lower-income individuals give a larger percentage of their income than those who are wealthier.
But here's the thing: while this is the default tendency, it doesn't mean that it has to be this way. It just means that it's the default tendency of our flesh.
Personally, the best way that I have found to defy this tendency is to commit to giving a percentage and then increase it by 1% each year. In doing so, you and I have the ability to defy the odds and be believers who continue to give more as our income increases, all while living a life of gratitude for all the blessings we've been given.
So as you go about your day today, meditate on these verses and intentionally focus on gratitude for all the blessings you've been given. And make a decision to continue to defy the odds and be someone who grows in generosity as your income grows!
