They Died for a CauseSample
JESUS AND THE SOLDIER!
“This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends. You are My friends if you do what I command you.” John 15:12-14
As Memorial Day approaches year after year, I can’t help but ponder on the price countless men and women have paid for their nation; for freedoms, and for what they believe in so strongly. In that same way, Jesus Our Commander-In-Chief, laid down His life so that man can also be free, free from sin.
Not everyone is meant to serve their nation as a soldier, but once freed of sin, God calls that person to step into the ranks of becoming a soldier for Christ!
I tried to get the number of those who died in both world wars to include all country's losses, but each research came up with different numbers. One thing each research had in common was their totals were in the millions. It is staggering to say the least, because with those figures also come the casualties of civilians, prisoners of war, wounded, etc.
Out of 195 countries in the world, only a handful commemorate a day set aside to honor the war fatalities. I am thankful I live in a country that does because Jesus told us “There is no greater love than a person laying down his life for a friend.” Men and women volunteer to place their lives on hold for a designated time to train and serve. Those deployed to war know they may not return. This to me is heroic.
We are daily made aware of world conflicts as well as domestic issues within each country, so our focus should be on our eternal destination and the universal Commander-In-Chief, Jesus Christ!
PRAYER: Father God, we come before you this day and thank you for the brave men and women who paid the ultimate price for their country. When we think of that, we are drawn to how Jesus willingly suffered and died so that every soul would have the opportunity to be free of sin. Because of His sacrifice, may we each be willing soldiers to spread His word. In Jesus Name. Amen

About this Plan
I’ve always felt that God has a special place in His heart for the soldier. Out of 195 countries in the world, only a handful commemorate a day set aside to honor those who died for their country. May we honor those who died for their nation, while giving honor to Jesus, who laid down His life for our freedom from sin! We honor Jesus by becoming His soldiers!
