Living Deeply Rooted

DAY 7 OF 14

When I was in high school, I believed in God but there wasn’t a personal relationship. I feared Him, but not in a way that allowed me to get to know Him fully. It was like He was there but didn’t want to be bothered by me, or that’s what I truly made myself believe. I didn’t know how to have a relationship with Him, yet I longed for one. I thought if I just did and said all the right things, then God would find favor with me. If you want to know God as your personal Lord and Savior, start today by asking God to come into your heart. It’s not too late to surrender your life to Him. Some say, I don’t even know where to begin. There isn’t a specific formula or a set of rules to follow. It’s simply communicating with God through prayer, going before Him and confessing your sin and repenting. It’s saying, “You know what? Yes, I’ve messed up, I’m broken, and I desperately need Jesus.” It’s a daily decision to die to your flesh and walk in the Spirit. This journey isn’t always easy. Walking with God may seem harder than trying to find your own way—trying to find happiness and contentment in different people and things. But man, I wouldn’t trade my relationship with God for anything this world has to offer. I just won’t. And you shouldn’t either. No matter how much this world tries to mask this “glamorous” cookie-cutter life and its temporary pleasures. It’s just not worth it.

Be joyful always, pray at all times, be thankful in all circumstances. This is what God wants from you in your life in union with Christ Jesus. I THESSALONIANS 5:16-18 GNT

God, I want to live my life in line with Your will, somewhere in me. I know Your intentions are best, even if I don’t always like the circumstances I am experiencing. Still, Your Word says to give thanks in all things, so I give You thanks and praise on purpose today. I’m choosing joy today and seeking You continuously through this prayer.
