The Threadਨਮੂਨਾ

The Beginning of a Righteous Family Line
The Baker Illustrated Study Bible tells us that "the line of Shem is very crucial. This section discovers the name 'Eber,' which is connected with 'Hebrew.'" The Hebrews are more commonly known to us as the Israelites.
God used this family line to bring Jesus into the world. After the flood, God blessed Noah's sons; Shem alone chose to live a life of honor when his father made a mistake (Genesis 9:20-27). Instead of pointing out his father's error, Shem covered Noah's shame.
Jesus, in the same way, chose to cover our shame and mistakes and has given us honor instead of disgrace. It is not a coincidence that God chose Shem's line to bring forth the Savior of the world.
Question: Are there any present opportunities for you to cover someone's shame with the love of Christ?
Prayer: Ask God how you can be a person who honors and chooses not to shame others, and ask him to show you who you can bless.
