Rescued From Darkness

DAY 5 OF 5

Share the Solution

At Personally Catholic, the Catholic ministry that created this film, we believe God is the solution to all the world's problems and everything else is just a bandaid.

Bandaids are good and necessary. But we believe real enduring healing that lasts into eternity only comes from a personal relationship with God. That's why we are called Personally Catholic.

The Way

Jesus tells us that he is the way that leads God's Kingdom of perfect enduring love (John 14:6). Jesus tells us that without him all social, political and personal reform will only need reform again (John 15:5). Without God at the center of our lives we really have no center personally or as a society.

We certainly need good governments, just laws and a more civil world. But the greatest need in our world is the need for God. If that need were filled, good governments, just laws and a more civil world would be a natural byproduct.

The Greatest Gift

Changing governments and laws may seem beyond your control. It certainly feels beyond the control of many people in Uganda as well.

The Good News is that you don't need this control to fill the world's greatest need. You simply need a personal relationship with God that changes your life and the willingness to share it with others.

If you welcome and share this relationship, you will have given the greatest gift to our world in the midst of the brokenness that surrounds you. You will have given God to others and there is nothing God can't do when we put him in charge of our lives personally.

Think and Pray

Sister Christine in one of my favorite people in all of Uganda. She loves Jesus with all of her heart despite her abduction as a child. When she escaped she ran to the one solution: Jesus Christ. In fact, if you watch Rescued from Darkness you will see that she literally ran to the church. Then she lived a life sharing that one solution as a sister.

Watch this short video clip from the film, then read the Bible verses that follow and ask yourself in prayer: where am I running to in my life?

Finally, if this devotional has blessed you, I am certain the full story about this community in Uganda in our film Rescued from Darkness will bless you as well while you welcome God's call to run to his Kingdom yourself.
