All In: Faith Unfazed in a World of ChaosSample
When I was a teenager, my sister and I were taking a road trip. We had stopped at a state park to rest for a while, and I decided to climb up on a set of climbing bars. I was at the top and reached across to grab another bar, and my hand slipped. All my weight came crashing down on my ankle which was rolled up underneath me. I ended up needing surgery to put pins and plates in my ankle. All of that happened because I lost my grip.
As you seek to live out a faith that is all-in, may I suggest that you keep a good grip—hold fast! This is not talking about holding onto your faith so that you do not let go and drop into hell. Once you have received eternal life, you have been forgiven and given a pardon. You will never have to worry about hell again. You are born into God’s family, and He will never kick you out.
So, what does it mean to hold fast? There will be times in your life when you go through an extreme time of testing. Life will grow dark, and the pain will be so intense that you may not see how God could be working in it. What the author of Hebrews is exhorting you to do is not let go of the promises of God. Hold fast!
God is faithful. He has promised to never leave you or forsake you. He has made promises, and He will keep His promises. We serve a promise-keeping God. What He says He is going to do, He will do.
Christian, are you in the middle of a trial? God’s promises are sure. Keep going. Keep serving the Lord. Keep studying the Word of God and sharing the gospel. He has promised to do a good work in you. Hold fast to that and do not waver!
