Hall of FaithSample
“Is anything too hard for the Lord?” (Gen. 18:14).
Have you ever been faced with a situation where the circumstances felt impossible? The downcast expression followed by a cancer diagnosis. The final handshake after being let go from the job that keeps a roof over your head. A single phone call that completely changes life as you know it. We have all encountered moments where we have absolutely no idea how the Lord is going to show up, or if He is even in the midst of our circumstances. These moments require supernatural faith.
This type of faith is seen evidently in the book of Genesis. Sarah has received a promise that is impossible for a woman well past the age of childbearing: the promise of a child. Not only the promise of a child, but the promise of a nation. This alone was a big promise, but it became even bigger considering the circumstances at hand.
“I will cause your descendants to become as numerous as the stars of the sky, and I will give them all these lands. And through your descendants all the nations of the earth will be blessed” (Gen. 26:4).
The Lord had made a covenant with Abraham, a promise that would never be broken. Although this promise seemed impossible, God showed that there is nothing impossible for him. No matter how big something may look, nothing is ever too big for our God. It takes faith to trust that the Lord is a God that keeps His promises. When have you needed to trust the Lord in the midst of an “impossible” situation?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you that you are a promise keeper. I pray for an uprising of faith in the moments where I feel something is too big or impossible for you to handle. Remind me of your faithfulness which I have seen time and time again. Amen.
About this Plan
The Hall of Faith from Hebrews 11 is filled with men and women of faith who dedicated their lives to a purpose greater than what the eye can see. We find their stories of strength in the midst of storms and faith in moments of doubt throughout Scripture. Over the next seven days, we will encounter their stories and witness the powerful ways God moved through their faith.
