The Miracle of Emotions

DAY 2 OF 7

Feelings

If you are my age, you may recognize some of the lyrics of these old (yes, I said "old”😊) love songs:

"Feelings, nothing more than feelings

Trying to forget my feelings of love

Teardrops rolling down on my face

Trying to forget my feelings of love"

What a SAD song!!! Or how about this one?

"You lost that lovin' feelin'

Whoa, that lovin' feelin'

You lost that lovin' feelin'

Now it's gone, gone, gone, whoa-oh"

Are you singing out loud with me? To make sure I don’t miss out on the younger crowd of A Miracle Every Day, I thought I better add at least one modern song from Beyonce.

"We built sand castles that washed away

I made you cry when I walked away

Oh, and although I promised that I couldn't stay, baby

Every promise don't work out that way, oh, babe

Every promise don't work out that way"

Before we go any further, I want to assure you that this is NOT about lost love or sadness. In fact, just the opposite! While our human experience is filled with heart-breaking moments, emotional distance, and even deep relational pain- there is another kind of love that pursues us with a passion that only God could possess!

God never falls out of love with you. The love that God has for you has no limits! God's capacity to feel love for you is immeasurable! God's love for you is overwhelming, never-ending, and without restrictions! God is a God of love, and all of His love is directed completely at you!

Listen to God express the emotion and reality of His love for you:

“I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.” (John 17:23, NIV)

Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” (1 John 4:8-10, NIV)

Can you take a moment and soak in God’s love? God’s love may overwhelm you to the point of tears or even fill your heart with so much joy that you have to shout out some praise! Either way, just embrace the reality that God loves you and that His love endures forever!

Psalm 136 is another love song. But, instead of talking about the weakness of human love, it’s all about the strength of God’s love. Listen to this:

“He remembered us in our low estate His love endures forever. and freed us from our enemies. His love endures forever. He gives food to every creature. His love endures forever. Give thanks to the God of heaven. His love endures forever.” (Psalm 136, NIV)

Let that emotional truth settle in on your heart. Now, how can you pass it on? Who do you love today that needs to hear it from you? Share the love of God in every moment you can and I promise that you will experience another emotion.....JOY!

You are a miracle!

About this Plan

The Miracle of Emotions

Your emotions are a miraculous gift from God. We are made in God’s image, which means that God has blessed us with the same emotional makeup that He displays as well. God is the author of all your emotions. He wants you to use them powerfully and in a godly, responsible way. The texts of this plan are from the daily encouragement emails, "A Miracle Every Day" written by Grant Fishbook.
