Let’s PraySample
Intentional Prayer
Do you want to pray? Pray like Paul did, asking God to give us power to understand God’s love. It is limitless, amazing, life-changing, and eternal.
As parents, we can pray for our children daily that God would give them power and strengthen their inner being to understand how much He loves them. We can do devotions, read the Bible, and raise them up in the way they should go, but there’s a supernatural part of this: prayer. Once they understand God’s love, they won’t need human approval. They won’t be running after “likes” or get depressed that they don’t have the right camera filter for their social media posts.
Pray for your spouse to have the power to understand God’s limitless love and be drawn into an intimate relationship with Him. Don’t just pray general prayers like, “God, bless him today.” The Lord knows your heart. What if we prayed, “Lord, strengthen my husband,” or “Strengthen my wife with the power of the Holy Spirit to know your great love”? That’s a dealbreaker, a breakthrough prayer.
Love is not just something God does but Who He is. You can stand in the strength of knowing God loves you. Do you know that when you call on your Father, all of heaven stops? He says, “Call to me and I will show you great and unsearchable things.” God wants you to call on Him. He’ll hold your hand and walk you through the dark times in your life. He will never leave you or forsake you.
Charles Finney, an evangelist in the 1800s, described feeling God’s love and power through prayer. He said, “I could feel the impression like a wave of electricity going through me, [like] waves of liquid love.” Experiencing God’s love changes everything.
Find a place where you can pray alone. Schedule the time for prayer. Be intentional. Pray for your spouse, your kids, your family, your friends, and your church. Start by praying for just 15 minutes. Later, you might go for 30 minutes. It can be hard, but sometimes we have to make sacrifices to get where God wants us to go. Pray beyond the superficial stuff. “God, let us have a good day.” Is that all you can ask for? God created the stars. He created you. He wants you to come to Him. What are you believing for? What big, bold, specific prayers will you lay before Him?
