Life: It's Not Supposed to Be Like This

DAY 3 OF 3

I thought I was a Christian. The problem was that I was never really saved because I never truly repented of my sins and changed the way I lived.

But then, one night in rehab, I fell to my knees and felt the presence and power of Jesus Christ. I began to ask for forgiveness and cried to Jesus to save me from my sins. My soul cried out for help as I realized I couldn’t do this alone. It felt like I was on my knees for an hour, confessing all my sins to God. As the burden of my sins got lighter as I cast them one by one onto Jesus, I began to feel the urge to forgive those who had hurt me. I knew I needed to forgive just as God had forgiven me.

As tears fell down my face, I asked God to help me forgive my dad for leaving me, help me forgive my mom, and help me forgive the guy who sexually abused me. At that moment, I laid all my burdens at the feet of Jesus Christ. My soul rejoiced as I was set free of the bandage of sin. At that moment, I was released from the hold that drugs, alcohol, sex, status, and power had on me. I could finally rest in the peace that surpasses all understanding.

You must confess to God you are a sinner and ask for forgiveness. You must understand and believe in your heart that Jesus died on the cross and rose from the grave. There is no other way unto salvation but through Christ and Christ alone.

As I prayed, I counted the cost of giving up my old way of life. It’s been eleven years since then, and my entire life is changed. No one had to tell me I needed to be in church; I wanted to be in church because I knew I was changed and saved!

This good news is for you.
