When wineskins dry out they crack and become leaky, rendering them useless. Being made in the image of God includes sharing in some of his substantive characteristics and gifts, which are meant to pour out of us as we serve. These include rationality, morality, self-awareness, creativity, productivity, and generosity–all things that I see less of in my life when the cracks start to appear.
A preacher I heard recently explained what people in biblical times would do to renew old wineskins. First they would soak them in water, then oil. After going through the process, the wineskin would become good as new. I began reflecting on where the cracks were in my life. I spent time repenting soaking in God’s presence and his Word and I prayed that he would renew me and fill me afresh. It was a very encouraging time where I reflected in silence before the Lord, asking for an infilling of his Spirit, and for daily renewal.
Response: Put a timer on your phone for 10 minutes and sit in God’s presence. Pray “Lord, renew me.” With child-like faith, believe He will do this.

About this Plan
The more we pursue God, the more we want to strip away the clutter that distracts us from Him. This collection of studies, compiled and adapted from writing by Tearfund contributor Sarah Wiggins, has been brought together to help us to consider what it means to truly (and simply) live life in all its fullness.
