Refreshed by God

DAY 3 OF 5

HOPE BROKERS

"I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit." Romans 15:13, NLT

Paul develops this idea of being a hope broker by first depending on the Lord, the source of all hope. Beautifully, the fruit of His hope is confidence—with the overflow of joy and peace. Being a hope broker for God was a challenge for some of the new Christians who made up Paul’s audience. God’s people are His agents to connect others to Him: His love, His forgiveness, His provision, His purposes. Being a hope broker is about influencing the world around you for the world to come.

Are you a hope broker? If not, trust Jesus. If you believe in Jesus, you can broker for Jesus! There is no greater joy than connecting someone with the lover of their soul. There is no greater fulfillment than to have a small part in facilitating someone’s faith walk by helping them take a few steps along their spiritual journey. Look for little ways to connect others to Christ: a prayer, a listening ear, an encouraging gift, a creative idea, an insightful truth, an introduction, or assurance they are not alone. Broker hope for God by offering hope in God!

Heavenly Father, commission me by Your Holy Spirit to connect others to Christ’s hope and to His resources. Show me who needs me to broker a need with a helpful resource or relationship. Thank You for the joy of helping someone fall in love with the lover of their soul–Jesus.

Day 2Day 4

About this Plan

Refreshed by God

Refreshed By God is taken from Boyd Bailey’s book of encouraging devotionals he penned in 2020. When the world felt upside-down from the Covid-19 pandemic, the Lord was giving him words to encourage, challenge, and sustain us...in times of chaos and for everyday living. It is our prayer that you are refreshed by His Spirit each day of this 5-day reading plan.
