[Wisdom of Solomon] Five Cups of Tea With Mom

DAY 1 OF 6

A Mentor Like No Other

Society pushes apprenticeship, networking, and finding a mentor as ways to make it in life. These steps often bring much benefit, but they may come with strings attached. There is Someone who will show you the true way to life everlasting. God wants you to know what a life of wisdom truly looks like through the book of Proverbs. God abounds in wisdom. His Word gives us insight into our daily lives.

We will be journeying through parts of the thirty-first chapter of the book of Proverbs. It is a passage famously known for describing what it means to be a godly woman, wife, and mother. But if you look deeper, if you lean in a little closer, you will find principles to live by no matter who you are. This passage was written from “Mom’s” perspective to her son, King Lemuel, likely another name for King Solomon himself. We get to peek into his mother’s advice to see what she found most important. Each day of this devotional will represent a cup of tea, signifying what “Mom” thought was important for her son to hear. It’s always beneficial to sit with someone who sees our lives with objectivity. We don’t always see the root of problems in our lives and need someone else to wisely expose it.

That is the beauty of the Scriptures—wherever you look, you can find food for your soul or a mentor who will make you wrestle with the tough questions in life. You get an objective point of view that is never wrong and always hits the target. Every time you read the Bible, it is slowly changing you and helping you to be all that Christ died for you to be. Often, the problem is that we look everywhere else but the Bible. The hope is that you will find Jesus’ guidance, purpose, and direction for your life. Let today be the day you start to sit with “Mom” as she helps you to know the Lord better. This will, in turn, lead to a life of wise choices, joy, and freedom.

Thought for today: How often is God the first person you go to with tough questions? Do you live in a way that shows God abounds in wisdom?

Day 2

About this Plan

[Wisdom of Solomon] Five Cups of Tea With Mom

When we live anchored in the Lord, we can smile at the future and what is to come. We live from God’s love and freely give that love to others through our kind words, time, and attention. When we intentionally live this way, we walk in abundant life and leave a legacy and blessing for those to come.
