At the Well: a Four-Day Devotional for Deep Encounters With Christ Marilyn JohnsonSample
Your Encounters Aren’t Just for You!
Key Scripture: Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in Him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.” (John 4:39)
God wants to change your family, community, and nation through you. Deep encounters with Him will usher you forward in doing greater works for Him.
Such was the impact that Jesus had on the Samaritan woman; the words that He spoke to her surpassed everything she had experienced. Unhindered and unashamed, she rushed to the town to share her story with others. So incredibly stirring was the encounter she had with Jesus; she left behind her water jar! (v. 28)
As she entered the village, something new must have been displayed in her expression and behaviour that stirred her community to wake up and pay attention.
“Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?” They came out of the town and made their way toward him. (v. 29-30)
Just like the Samaritan woman, those around you will clearly see that you have been in the presence of someone greater, and hearts will be stirred towards wanting to know more about this Jesus and His powerful work.
Don’t let the fear of others’ unbelief hold you back or silence you from sharing your encounters! Share with others the indelible mark you now bear so that others will be encouraged to pursue hard after God. They are waiting to be stirred and inspired by you.
Prayer: God, I thank You that every encounter with You leaves an opportunity for me to affect my surroundings and nation. Lead and guide me in exactly what you want me to do after our encounters. May my words stir and encourage others, and may my heart be directed toward You.
