Close friends are needed throughout the ups and downs of life. Having someone to celebrate our joys or embrace during times of sorrow adds depth and meaning to even the dullest of days, not to mention the ones that bring us to our knees. While a wife’s friendship is a gift, it doesn’t replace the need for fellowship and special times just between men. After all, they have a language all their own that doesn’t need interpreting or explaining. And when a man and his friend fill each other’s cups, it’s as if they get a new boost to face another day.

Father, I pray for my husband to have strong friendships that bring him fulfillment and joy. I pray for friends who will be a safe place for him to be himself and accepted just the way he is. I also pray for friends who will pray with him and for him, men who will stretch his faith in You and challenge him to be all they know he can be. Help him to be a good friend in return. I know it takes time to build close friendships, so give me the nudge to encourage him to take time away when You know he needs it. It’s hard not to be selfish—I want him all to myself! But I know it’s important for him to be filled with love from genuine friends—and other men of God—who care about his life and dreams, his frustrations and milestones. Most of all, help me to be his best friend ever—the one he wants to come home to and share with from his heart.IN JESUS’ NAME I PRAY. AMEN.
