Something to think about while you are reading today’s passage:

Throughout the Bible, sometimes God works in the foreground and sometimes in the background. Joseph's story is one where God chooses a different way of communicating His presence from how He did to previous generations. How might Reuben, Jacob (and, for that matter, Joseph!) be feeling about that in a moment like this? How do you feel when things go wrong and God seems conspicuously absent?
