Shevotionals: Overcoming and BecomingSample
Walk It Out
He makes my feet like hinds’ feet [able to stand firmly and tread safely on paths of testing and trouble];
He sets me [securely] upon my high places. Ps 18:33 AMP
Every situation that appears to be negative in your life is temporary. However, it never feels like that when you're going through it. Times of hardship can be so draining, tiring and painful.
Just like a session in the gym with the instructor pushing you beyond your limit… (well, you think it's beyond your limit, but the instructor knows that there is more in you!) The instructor will count down: “10…9….8….” You are ready to slump to the ground. Lactic acid is just bubbling through your muscles and you feel like your whole body is ceasing to cooperate with you: “7….6….5….4….” The countdown feels like forever, and you begin to feel nauseous. You are ready to throw in the towel and throw up at the same time: “3….2… and…………1! Now, walk it out!”
Walk it out? After this punishing, almost crippling circuit you just went through you are being told to walk when really you want to just fold up and collapse. The instructor tells you to walk out the pain and strain because that is the time for recovery—a time to moderate and control your breathing and regulate your heart.
This is the same in your faith-walk. God wants to take you higher! Through the circuit, He builds you up to increase your strength and endurance. It's a painful process but through Him, you are well and able to overcome it! (Num 13:30)
When that countdown ends, sister, keep walking it out.
Prayer:
Father, I have come to realise that pain is for a purpose. I am thankful to You that I am being trained, strengthened, and conditioned for higher grounds. I am confident that through it all, I am becoming steadfast and immovable. I am learning to scale the steep slopes that come my way. I will not fall because just as the hinds' feet, my steps are being ordered by the Lord.
I am overcoming and becoming.
