Royals Part II: Divided KingdomSample
Influencers
Throughout our readings we’ve seen the importance of who we give influence to. We see how evil ways pass from person to person, from generation to generation. We see the influence of Omri and Ahab, who lived generations ago in another country influencing Ahaziah through his mother, Omri’s granddaughter.
Today, the sphere of people who have influence is so much larger than just our close family and friends. We receive so many opinions on how we should live, what is ethical and how our country should be run. We need to be able to discern the agenda and the origins of these viewpoints because they can be far more dangerous than we realise.
We need to realise that a Christian worldview is entirely opposite to every other worldview. A Christian ethic is based on a Messiah who laid down everything, who lived in total submission, who lived selflessly and gave all of Himself to all of us, even while we were still sinners.
Regardless of where we sit on the political spectrum, we all have people speaking into our lives that do not have their foundation in Christ. It is wise to investigate the ideological source of the people we listen to and consider what their agenda may be.

About this Plan
Tales of triumph and tragedy are seen in the books of Samuel, Kings, and Chronicles. The history of Kings of Israel and Judah is a story of divine faithfulness despite human failure. These flawed rulers point us towards the one true faithful King. Part II covers Rehoboam through to Joash from Judah and Ahab from Israel.
